" George L. Dahl of the locally prominent firm of Greene, LaRoche and Dahl designed the department store as a Renaissance Florentine palazzo style building, influenced by design characteristics of the Italian Renaissance style. The building displays white limestone walls with a concrete foundation and asphalt roof. Distinctive elements include three entrances with round arched portals, arched casement windows along the second and seventh floors, decorative string courses above both the first and second floors, and a balustrade above the comice serving as a parapet wall.

One of the powerhouse retailers in North Texas, Titche-Goettinger constmcted its flagship department store in 1928 at the comers of Main, Elm, and St. Paul Streets m downtown Dallas. This building, the largest constmcted in Dallas in 1928, represents the dynamic growth of the retail sector and its contribution to the economic vitality of Dallas during the early 20th cenmry. The history of Titche-Goettinger encompasses many trends in Dallas and U.S. history including the development of the department store as an economic force on national and local levels, the local contributions of the Jewish merchant community, and the lives of Jewish merchants Edward Titche and Max Goettinger. A good local example of 3-part vertical block commercial buildings constmcted during the 1920s, the building also represents the early work of Dallas architect George L. Dahl, of the locally prominent firm of Greene, LaRoche and Dahl."
