Friendship Bridge - Wentworth, NH - Covered Bridges on Waymarking.com

The bridge was originally constructed in 1962 as Goffe's Mill Covered Bridge which connected the Wayfarer Inn to the Convention Center in Bedford, NH. That site closed in 2010 and was slated for demolition. Earlier, the town of Wentworth had condemned an old steel truss foot bridge spanning the Baker River. That bridge had been onsite since its construction in 1909 and the town wanted a solution to the condemned bridge. The Geoff's Mill covered bridge was purchased and reconstructed in Wentworth in 2016 prior to its demolition to span the Baker River as a solution to the condemned steel truss bridge. The bridge was renamed the Friendship Bridge by the Friends of the Wentworth Parks and Recreation non-profit who championed the bridge's relocation and reconstruction. It is pedestrian (foot-traffic) only. The story of the bridge saving and reconstruction is included in the website below.
