Located in the heart of the city, the School-Museum houses a rich collection of school and educational materials. Each notebook, each object, each image that you will discover throughout the permanent exhibition has been integrated into an original scenography.

The School-Museum presents 3 classes corresponding to key dates of its history, 1850-1879 for the first; 1881-1950 for the second and 1950 to today for the last. A notebook, a pen and an inkwell are available to try to write "as before".

The School-Museum has decided to relaunch the queen of schoolyards, the ball of land. Students follow a presentation of the games and toys of yesteryear then participate in a recreational workshop. The objective is to practice a manual activity, to act with his hands on the material, the materials, using tools, to create or to make leaving his imprint on the matter. This activity aims to develop in the pupil his possibilities of adaptation, his faculty to find solutions, thus to learn to reason. I draw

The objectives of this animation are multiple: to exert its glance and to discover the history of the school and education starting from images and some objects placed in the permanent exhibition. Students in the classroom of the past participate in a presentation of the furniture, identify it and then analyze it to understand both the composition and the meaning. The children take confidence in themselves, appropriate the place, it is time for everyone to draw the object that has retained their full attention. (Choose among selected objects beforehand). Over time ...

The objectives are to discover a school in the time of the great-grandparents to that of our parents, to compare the life of the schoolchildren in the past and today and to observe the material made available to the students. Students take a guided tour of the museum and then carry a booklet * they answer a fun questionnaire referring to the visit provided. Give me your pen

In the classroom of old, students attend and participate in a writing lesson. Dressed as the students of the early twentieth century (blouse and beret), children describe and try to represent the operation of the school, how is arranged the class, what were the punishments ... Then, they can imagine themselves in school of the beginning of the century by writing with the pen and the purple ink: - for CE1-CE2: a few words and sentences from a writing lesson. - from the CM1, College and High School: dictation on a topic that can be defined by the teacher at registration. The moral lesson

In all the classrooms, at the same time for 86 years, all the schoolchildren followed the same ritual: the moral lesson. It solemnly inaugurated the day and was to allow children to become "good adults". Every day the schoolmaster wrote on the blackboard of the class a moral precept. The pupils had to copy it on their notebook, discuss it with the teacher, and especially learn it by heart. Morality at school defined the fundamentals of French society. She laid down the rules of "living together". Activity: students attend a lesson in morality, participate in the discussion and transcribe a few sentences on a sheet by writing with the metal pen. How did the master live?

Each public school had classrooms as well as official housing. The teachers were thus housed at their place of work. At the end of the 19th century, the housing of function was integrated in the town hall. The teacher was then also the town hall secretary. In connection with a visit to the museum, students discover reconstituted housing without running water or electricity. Various themes of daily life are discussed. - CE1 to CM2: in the master's room, today's objects are hidden. Students must find these intruders and explain why they did not exist. - College students: Using a questionnaire, students discover the usual objects used by the teacher and try to explain their functions. Implantée au cœur de la ville, l'Ecole-Musée abrite une riche collection de matériel scolaire et pédagogique. Chaque cahier, chaque objet, chaque image que vous serez amené à découvrir tout au long de l'exposition permanente a été intégré à une scénographie originale.

L’École-Musée présente 3 classes correspondant à des dates clés de son histoire, 1850-1879 pour la première ; 1881-1950 pour la seconde et 1950 à nos jours pour la dernière. On trouve à disposition un cahier, une plume et un encrier pour essayer d'écrire "comme avant".

Roule ta bille…

L’École-Musée a décidé de relancer la reine des cours d’école, la bille de terre. Les élèves suivent une présentation des jeux et jouets d’autrefois puis participent à un atelier récréatif. L’objectif est de pratiquer une activité manuelle, agir avec ses mains sur la matière, les matériaux, en se servant d’outils, pour créer ou fabriquer en laissant son empreinte sur la matière. Cette activité vise à développer chez l’élève ses possibilités d’adaptation, sa faculté à trouver des solutions, donc à apprendre à raisonner. Je dessine

Les objectifs de cette animation sont multiples : exercer son regard et découvrir l’histoire de l’école et de l’éducation à partir d’images et de certains objets placés dans l’exposition permanente. Les élèves, installés dans la classe d’autrefois, participent à une présentation du mobilier, l’identifient et en font ensuite l’analyse afin d’en comprendre à la fois la composition et la signification. Les enfants prennent confiance en eux, s’approprient le lieu, il est temps pour chacun de dessiner l’objet qui a retenu toute leur attention. (Au choix parmi des objets sélectionnés au préalable). Au fil du temps…

Les objectifs sont de découvrir une école au temps des arrière-grands-parents jusqu’à celle de nos parents, de comparer la vie des écoliers dans le passé et aujourd’hui et observer le matériel mis à la disposition des élèves. Les élèves suivent une visite guidée du musée puis munis d’un livret* ils répondent à un questionnaire ludique faisant référence à la visite dispensée. Prête-moi ta plume

Dans la salle de classe d’autrefois, les élèves assistent et participent à une leçon d’écriture. Habillés comme les élèves du début du XXe siècle (blouse et béret), les enfants décrivent et essaient de se représenter le fonctionnement de l’école, comment est agencée la classe, quelles étaient les punitions… Ensuite, ils peuvent s’imaginer en écolier du début du siècle en écrivant à la plume et à l’encre violette : - pour les CE1-CE2 : quelques mots et phrases d’une leçon d’écriture. - à partir du CM1, Collège et Lycée : dictée portant sur un sujet qui peut être défini par l’enseignant lors de son inscription. La leçon de morale

Dans toutes les salles de classes, à la même heure pendant 86 ans, tous les écoliers ont suivi le même rituel : la leçon de morale. Elle inaugurait solennellement la journée et devait permettre aux enfants de devenir de « bons adultes ». Chaque jour, le maître d’école écrivait sur le tableau noir de la classe un précepte de morale. Les élèves devaient le recopier sur leur cahier, en discuter avec l’instituteur, et surtout l’apprendre par cœur. La morale à l’école définissait les fondamentaux de la société française. Elle posait les règles du « vivre ensemble ». Activité : les élèves assistent à une leçon de morale, participent à la discussion et retranscrivent quelques phrases sur une feuille en écrivant à la plume métallique. Comment vivait le maître ou la maîtresse

Chaque école publique possédait des salles de classe mais également un logement de fonction. Les instituteurs et institutrices étaient ainsi hébergés sur leur lieu de travail. A la fin du XIXe siècle, le logement de fonction était intégré à la mairie. L’instituteur était alors également le secrétaire de mairie. En lien avec une visite du musée, les élèves découvrent un logement reconstitué, sans eau courante, ni électricité. Divers thèmes de la vie quotidienne sont abordés. - du CE1 au CM2 : dans la chambre du maître, des objets d’aujourd’hui sont cachés. Les élèves doivent retrouver ces intrus et expliquer pourquoi ils n’existaient pas. - Collégiens : à l’aide d’un questionnaire, les élèves découvrent les objets usuels utilisés par le maître et tentent d’expliquer leurs fonctions.
