Article text:
An Oklahoma City woman opened a unique dance studio to help children of all abilities pursue their dreams.
“We don’t turn away any student because of ability. We have students that have moderate to severe autism that are in private lessons,” Shannon Wrights said.
Wrights is visually impaired, but she's always had a passion for dance.
“I grew up and had a lot of trouble finding places that would accept dancers that had different abilities,” Wright said. “I was always told I couldn't do a lot of stuff because of my vision. I loved dance and so I got a degree in dance from Oklahoma City University. And this is what I want to do, is make dance possible to anybody who wants to."
She said now that she has her own studio, she's able to combine her two passions: dance and helping others.
Wrights’ studio, Aspiring Attitudes, helps dance students with special needs who might not otherwise be able to take normal dance classes.
The studios offers tap, jazz, ballet and cheer classes.
