A stone plaque in the Church of the Holy Cross, Epperstone, bearing the coat of arms of John Odingsells esq (d.1655).

The inscription reads -
HERE LYETH IOHN ODING-
SELLS OF EPERSTON ESQf
& ELIZ: HIS DEARE WIFE,
SISTER TO Sr WILLIAM
SVTTON OF AVERHAM, Kt
WHOM GOD BLEST Wth
ELEVEN CHILDREN, OF WHOM
ARE LIVEING 4 SONS, & 2
DAUGHTERS. HE DIED THE
1Oth OF IVLY 1655, IN THE 79th
YEARE OF HIS AGE.


He was a member for Notts, in Barebones' Parliament. At the same time a member of the Paulit family and his wife were living in the village, after the sack of Basing.
