An einer S-Bahn-Unterführung in Köln-Ehrenfeld ist ein Mosaik-Kunstwerk erstellt worden. Künstler und Titel sind leider unbekannt. Das insgesamt etwa fünf Meter hohe Kunstwerk besteht aus einem Mosaik, das den Helios-Leuchtturm darstellt. Das Mosaik ist aus unterschiedlich großen grauen, schwarzen und gläsernen Steinen gefertigt. Um das Mosaik herum wurde ein Gemälde hinzugefügt, dass zum einen eine große Glühbirne anstatt des Leuchtfeuers zeigt. Darüber befindet sich der Schriftzug "Helios". Zum anderen gehen vom Leuchtturm aus Lichtstrahlen in alle Richtungen.

Der hier abgebildete Helios-Leuchtturm ist ein Wahrzeichen Ehrenfelds. Er steht bis heute wenige Meter weiter die Heliosstraße rein am Rande des ehemaligen Fabrikgeländes des Elektrotechnikunternehmens Helios. Von 1882 bis 1930 wurden hier Elektroartikel verschiedenster Art entwickelt und produziert, darunter auch technische Ausrüstung für Leuchttürme. Zu Versuchs- und Demonstrationszwecken baute Helios im Jahr 1895 den 44 Meter hohen Leuchtturm hier in Köln-Ehrenfeld, der zum Wahrzeichen der Firma wurde. 1996 wurder er renoviert und mit einer neuen Lichttechnik (ohne Optik) ausgestattet. Seitdem leuchtet er wieder jeden Abend dauerhaft mit einem schwachen, blendfreien Licht über Ehrenfeld.

At a railway underpass in Cologne-Ehrenfeld a mosaic work of art has been created. Unfortunately artist and title are unknown. The artwork with a total height of about five meters consists of a mosaic that represents the Helios Lighthouse. The mosaic is made of differently sized gray, black and glass stones. A painting has been added around the mosaic, showing a large light bulb instead of the beacon. Above it is the lettering "Helios". In addition, the lighthouse emits light rays in all directions.

The Helios Lighthouse shown here is a symbol of Ehrenfeld. It stands a few meters further on the Heliosstraße on the edge of the former factory site of the electrical engineering company Helios. From 1882 to 1930, electrical goods of various kinds were developed and produced here, including technical equipment for lighthouses. For experimental and demonstration purposes Helios built in 1895 the 44 meter high lighthouse here in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, which became the symbol of the company. In 1996, it was renovated and equipped with a new lighting technology (without optics). Since then it shines again every evening permanently with a faint, glare-free light over Ehrenfeld.
