Laid to Rest.

Mr. Gustave Oppermann, for many years a resident of Galveston, died night before last at the family residence, corner of Mechanic and Thirteenth streets. The funeral took place from the Sacred Heart church yesterday morning and was largely attended. Mr. Oppermann was one of the early merchants of the Island city, conducting an extensive lime and cement business on the Strand prior to the civil war. Possessing ample means he retired from active business some years ago. He was married to his second wife but a short time ago, and was but 57 years of age at the time of his death. He has three married daughters residing in the city, and leaves a considerable family of younger children.
