The key to identifying this tractor has been the discovery of the IH symbol on the back of the battery box. Consulting with a friend, our original thought was an Allis Chalmers because of the orange paint color. A unique feature on the tractor is the single front wheel. Using that fact and the manufacturer's symbol narrows the choice down to a Farmall 400 Cotton. The front tire seems to have been used only on that model. The orange color is probably due to a bad repaint job. There are no other marks on the tractor, the identification plate has been wiped clean. The tank on top indicates that this would have run on LP. The tractor now sits in an area with a mining past so it was probably acquired else where in the valley, where cotton was a major crop, and transported to its current spot. Sadly, it is now yard decor with much of the body missing.
