These seats were a very interesting find, set within the old village green. I have not been able to find any relevant information on the seats, however. It was interesting to discover the village green once was the location of the old village stocks.
-------------------
Stocks - The stocks, pillory, and pranger each consist of large wooden boards with hinges; however, the stocks are distinguished by restraining one's feet.

The stocks consist of placing boards around either just a person's ankles or their ankles and wrists, whereas with the pillory the boards are fixed to a pole and placed around the person's arms and neck, forcing them to stand.
