My Aggie Nation

"In the middle of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum Complex, five bronze horses are portrayed leaping over a 2-ton piece of the Berlin Wall. The memorial is 12 feet tall and 18 feet wide. The four mares and one stallion are larger than life-size, according to artist Veryl Goodnight’s website.

She explained to The Eagle in October 1995 that the sculpture is about freedom. “Throughout the centuries, horses have been used by artists to represent freedom,” Goodnight said. “In this monument, the horses symbolize the personal drive of freedom that is shared by people of all nations. The Berlin Wall was a visual of the oppression that still exists.”
