DE: In der Mitte unserer Stadt, im Schutz des Aachener Domes setzt der Denkraum ‚Letzte Spur‘ der AIDS-Hilfe Aachen Erinnerung frei. Namen und Steine – seit der ersten Installation 1992 auf der documenta IX in verschiedenen Formen und an verschiedenen Plätzen Deutschlands und Europas gezeigt – besteht aus einer größeren Anzahl gefundener Pflastersteine. Ein Teil dieser Steine ist mit Namen von an AIDS verstorbenen Menschen versehen – sozusagen die letzte Spur dieser Aachener Mitbürger.
Außer den 36 Steinen mit Namen von Menschen aus Aachen liegen hier auch 2 Steine aus Mönchengladbach. Dort kam keine eigene Installation mehr zustande, die ‚Letzte Spur‘ in Aachen ist die letzte Installation von Namen und Steine. Die Installation am Durchgang zum Domhof liegt halb auf städtischem, halb auf kirchlichem Boden. Da Mönchengladbach zum Bistum Aachen gehört, lag diese Lösung auf der Hand.
Für die Stifter der Steine sowie die haupt- und ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeiter der AIDS-Hilfe ist dies ein Ort der Erinnerung an Menschen, die sie durch die Krankheit verloren haben. Für die Aachener Bürger und auswärtigen Besucher ist es ein Mahnmal, dass auf die Existenz von AIDS hinweisen und erinnern soll, dass HIV jeden treffen kann.

Die Namenssteine können
a) bei den lokalen AIDS-Hilfen bzw. AIDS-Beratungsstellen, die 26 Dauerinstallationen betreuen, bestellt werden. Die Bestellung wird dann per E-Mail an Tom Fecht weitergeleitet.

Die Kosten für einen Stein betragen 200 Euro. Einen Teilbetrag von 50 Euro erhalten die lokalen AIDS-Hilfen. Die Steine werden nach Fertigstellung von der Werkstatt des Künstlers an die zuständigen AIDS-Hilfen versendet und dort vor Ort von einem lokalen Unternehmen oder den städtischen Tiefbauämtern eingesetzt.

EN: In the middle of our city, under the protection of the Aachen Cathedral, the Denkraum 'Last Track' of the AIDS-Hilfe Aachen sets the memory free. Names and stones - shown since the first installation in 1992 at the documenta IX in various forms and at various places in Germany and Europe - consists of a larger number of found paving stones. A part of these stones is provided with names of people who died of AIDS - so to speak, the last trace of this Aachen fellow citizens.
Apart from the 36 stones with names of people from Aachen, there are also 2 stones from Mönchengladbach. The installation at the passage to the cathedral courtyard is located half on urban, half on ecclesiastical ground. Since Mönchengladbach belongs to the diocese of Aachen, this solution was obvious.
For the founders of the stones, as well as the full-time and volunteer AIDS workers, this is a place of remembrance of people they have lost through the disease. For the citizens of Aachen and foreign visitors it is a memorial, which should point out the existence of AIDS and remind that HIV can hit anyone.
The name stones can
a) be ordered from the local AIDS or AIDS counseling service, which is responsible for 26 permanent installations. The order will then be forwarded by e-mail to Tom Fecht.

The cost of a stone is 200 euros. A partial amount of 50 euros will receive the local AIDS-aids. After completion, the stones are sent to the responsible AIDS relief center by the artist's workshop, where they are used locally by a local company or the municipal civil engineering offices.
