Arrgh! by Gary Alsum is installed in the Town Square housing addition, which is on the north side of Danforth, between I-35 and Coltrane.
According to the Edmond Sun, "The sculpture is being paid half by the City of Edmond Visual Arts Commission, $21,750, and community partners Caleb and Terri McCaleb and Scott and Sally Whipple, $21,750."
This outdoor art piece is located near the neighborhood's clubhouse, swimming pool, and pirate-themed playground.
The pirate is facing street-side, with his left arm on his hip, and his right arm extended down. A parrot is perched on his left shoulder, neck bent and looking up at the pirate. His left leg is raised slightly, resting on a boat dock stump, with rope wrapped around it. Shells adorn the base of the sculpture. He wears a pirate hat and ruffled shirt with an overcoat that hangs open. A thick belt secures his knife. His facial features are what you'd imagine: beard and an ear ring. The man is lifesize, but appears a little taller as he's standing on a base.
