The Palazzo dei Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo, together with the Tabularium, currently constitute the exhibition site of the Capitoline Museums (Musei Capitolini), among the most representative and visited Roman museums.

The courtyard of the Palazzo dei Conservatori has always represented, since the first formation of the capitoline of antiquity collections, a sort of privileged place for the preservation of the memory of antiquity. The works that gradually flowed into the palace were a sign of the cultural and temporal continuity left by the glorious ancient world.

In addition to the famous courtyard, another noteworthy place is the Apartment of the Conservatories, or the series of representative rooms of city magistrates. In particular, the great Sala degli Orazi and Curiazi is sometimes still used today for institutional events. Among the other most famous rooms, the Sala della Lupa, which houses the famous sculpture of the Lupa Capitolina, symbol of the city, perhaps a work of the Medieval era.

In the Modern Age, the Palace hosted the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 1957 in the presence of representatives of the six founding countries of the European Economic Community. This event was held in the great Hall of the Orazi and Curiazi . This signature was celebrated sixty years later, in 2017, in the same room, in the presence of the 27 representatives of the European Union.

On October 29, 2004, the Sala degli Orazi and Curiazi hosted the signing of the European Constitution.
