Memorial stone for the forced labourers from 1939 - 1945 at the main station in Göttingen.
The memorial stone, which is placed on public grounds next to the employment office near the main railway station, was financed half by the city and the other half by donations.
It is no coincidence that the commemorative stone of the forced labour is placed next to the labour office and the locomotive hall, because at that time one of the two Göttingen camps for forced labourers administered and distributed by the labour office among the Nazis and many of whom worked in the "locomotive alignment plant" of the locomotive hall was located near the Schützenplatz. The forced laborers were denied access to the bunkers during air raids. At the Göttingen cemetery in Kasseler Landstraße, the graves of the forced laborers of that time still bear witness today.
