The Mine Winding cable and drum are housed within an adjacent building to the old mine shaft derrick.
There are two cable drums, which are some 10 feet in diameter. they still have cable roved around them.
The drums appeared to have been driven by electricity, electric motors.
Along with drive cogs and driven wheels, around the drums are two huge brake bands which would have controlled the decent of the mine shaft lift cage.
