Saint Mary's Chapel is located at the North East campus of Mercyhurst University in North East, PA. From 1881 until the mid-1980s, the campus was Saint Mary Seminary of the Redemptorist Order. The chapel was built in 1901. In 1991, Mercyhurst, a Catholic college founded by the Sisters of Mercy, purchased the property and opened it as a satellite campus. Today, the chapel is still used for religious services organized by the university's campus ministry.
While some minor renovations were completed on the chapel since the Second Vatican Council, such as the installation of a free-standing altar in the sanctuary, the removal of portions of the communion rail, and more contemporary Stations of the Cross hung on the walls, much of the original furnishings and artwork are still in place, including the high altar, four side altars, and beautiful stained glass windows.
