Vor der gotischen Kirche St. Nicolai in Alfeld steht diese Stahlglocke aus dem Jahr 1948, sie hat ein Gewicht von 1,7 Tonnen und einen Durchmesser von 165 cm. Sie wurde von J.F. Weule aus Stahl minderer Qualität als Ersatz für die gleichgroße Bronzeglocke aus dem Jahr 1750 gegossen. Diese wurde im 2. Weltkrieg für Rüstungszwecke eingeschmolzen.
Am 12. September 2010 wurde eine neue Bronzeglocke, gegossen von der Firma Bachert aus Karlsruhe, in St. Nicolai eingebaut.
This steel bell from 1948 stands in front of the Gothic church of St. Nicolai in Alfeld. It weighs 1.7 tons and has a diameter of 165 cm. It was cast by J.F. Weule from steel of inferior quality as a replacement for the bronze bell of the same size from 1750. This was melted down in the World War II for armament purposes.
On September 12, 2010 a new bronze bell, cast by the company Bachert from Karlsruhe, was installed in St. Nicolai.
