Edmond police on Tuesday released dashboard camera video showing the moment an officer performed a PIT maneuver to stop a truck that led police on a high-speed chase.
According to police, officers responded just before 6:30 a.m. to the area of Coffee Creek Road and Kelly Avenue. A resident said she had just returned home to find a truck parked in her driveway and a man knocking on the door while her husband and child were inside.
Police said it was later discovered that another man was in the backyard at the same time, and both homeowners believed the two were trying to break into their home, according to police.
The two left the scene before officers arrived. Police said an officer spotted the vehicle eastbound on Coffee Creek and turned around to check on it. The driver failed to pull over, leading police on a chase, according to authorities. Police said the suspect vehicle was going 90 mph at one point during the pursuit.
The vehicle had also been reported stolen from Del City, according to police. An officer tried to place stop sticks at Coffee Creek and Midwest but was unable to set up in time to stop the suspect vehicle.
An officer performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention to stop the suspect vehicle near Second Street and Douglas. Two men ran away from the vehicle but were captured quickly, according to police.
