Article text:
Police took a man into custody Saturday night after they said he fired shots at officers who were responding to a disturbance in a neighborhood near the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Around 9:10 p.m., a woman reported that her boyfriend was "tripping on acid" at a home in the 1000 block of Edwards Street, just south of the intersection of East Ayers Street and North Baumann Avenue, said Jenny Wagnon, with the Edmond Police Department. Officers responded to the area, where the man started to yell at them and opened fire.
At one point during the incident, Wagnon said the man ran through a glass door at the home. The suspect resisted arrest before the officers hit him several with a stun gun and took him into custody.
Although no officers were hit, one of the bullets struck a nearby home where a woman and her two children live, according to Wagnon.
An officer was injured during the incident while diving to safety when the man shot at police. He was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries, officials said.
Police are still working to determine exactly how many shots were fired. Authorities have not released the suspect's name.
