With a surface area of 207 square miles, Lake Constance (or Bodensee in German) is the third largest fresh water lake in Western and Central Europe. Bordering three alpine countries, it is Germany's and Austria's largest lake and the second largest lake in Switzerland.

Main Belt Asteroid 22322 Bodensee was discovered on September 13, 1991, by German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz Dieter Schmadel and named it after the lake.
