This anchor is located next to the parking lot at Shades Beach Park in Harborcreek Township along the southern shore of Lake Erie in northwestern Pennsylvania. According to an interpretive sign next to the anchor:

"In September 1964, while scuba diving between Cowell's Beach and Shades Beach, Gene Heuser and Chuck Miller located an anchor among the ruins of an old wooden ship. The men, assisted by Glenn Mattis, Pete Migatulski, and Jack Butler, attached 13 barrels to the anchor to bring it to the surface, and Joe Skindell towed the 3,000 lb. anchor to land. The anchor was donated to Harborcreek Township by the Chuck Miller family and placed at Shades Beach in 2012."

Text on the anchor indicate that it was made by International Anchor Co. in Cleveland, Ohio.
