A gun wheel that was struck by Confederate artillery is inscribed with the engagements of the 1st Light Battery Connecticut Volunteers. It is on display in the Hall of Flags of the Connecticut State House in Hartford, CT.

During the Battle of Proctor’s Creek, VA Confederate artillery struck and damaged a cannon's gun wheel belonging to the 1st Light Battery of the Connecticut Volunteers. The gun wheel was sent back to Connecticut where someone painted the names and dates of 1st Light Battery's engagements along the rim of the wheel.

The gun wheel on display at the Connecticut State House in honor of the 1st Light Battery of the Connecticut Volunteers.

Visitors can tour the Connecticut Capitol Building by entering the west entrance. The building is open for visitors Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Guided tours are available at quarter past the hour until 13:15. Self-guided booklets are available on the first floor.
