Acoustic Naval Mine
This was the standard British contact and acoustic naval mine used during the Second World War.
The British developed this mine for use against German shipping. It could be set off when a ship hit the sensor set into the mine's casing. The mine could also be triggered to detonate if an internal hydrophone or underwater microphone, detected the noise of a ship passing overhead.
