Amado Road provides access to a few ranches and follows a railroad right of way. At the location of this grabber a decaying siding sits next to the active rail line. Through this part of southern Arizona the rail line regularly crosses desert washes, dry for most of the year but subject to periodic washouts through the summer. This grabber would allow a work crew to move boulders, pull ties and load timbers without much manual work. It would save significant time in repairing rail washouts. It has Owen RG58 molded on and SP, for Southern Pacific, welded on to a couple of the claws.
