From an information panel on site:
2 Pounder "Pom-Pom" Anti-Aircraft gun
This "Pom-Pom" gun, so called because of the heavy thumping sound it produced when fired, was fitted to most Canadian Corvettes during the Second World War.
Designed to counter low flying aircraft, it was also used against surfaced submarines. This particular gun is one of hundreds built by Canadian manufacturers during the war. It was mounted aboard the Corvette HMCS Kamloops, which appeared in the 1943 film Corvette K-225.
