"St. Bede Parish was established by the Most Reverend Archbishop
John J. Mitty of San Francisco on June 15. 1955 to servE people in the developments of South Hayward. The first Pastor, took up residence in a 10-room house situated at Jackson Street and Harder Road. The ?rst Mass was held in the basement of that house in September of 1955. Mass was oifcred there until 10 acres of land on Patrirk Avenue could be purchased and a church built. After twenty months in the Jackson Sn-eet building. the first Mass in the newly built St. Bede Church was held on July 28, 1957.

The new church, small gym, and social hall were mere shells at die time. Finishing of various facilities was completed by parish volunteers. With I11: building and opening of St. Bede
School, chapel, and convent in 1964 and the Parish Center in 1976,
the parish complex, as visualized and planned, was complete. St. Bede Parish boundaries are the area south of Jackson Street to Industrial Parkway, and all west of Huntwood Avenue to Industrial Blvd." (visit link)
