SNOW ROLLER
The snow roller was the first means of
packing the roads for horse drawn
sleighs and sleds.
It was used about approximately 1890
to 1930
It weighed about 3000 pounds and was
pulled by 2 or 3 pairs of horses
The team nearest the roller was called
the pole team and the second team was
the chain team. The front team was
called the lead team.
A man and his team were paid a total of $5.50 a day
Restored, thanks to the friends and members of the Mohawk grange
Special thank to Robert Burril and Glen Perry and also Early Kate
(Linda Silver's father) for supplying the wood
