A plaque nearby tells us:

The Arts Society Wrekin Mosaic
In 1968 Patricia Fay established the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies
(NADFAS). When a colleague of hers, Michael Tebbutt, moved from Knebworth House in
Hertfordshire to Weston Park as Administrator, she persuaded him to establish a Society in this
area. In 1974 Wrekin DFAS was started with Mary, the Countess of Bradford, as its President. The
Society's next President was her daughter-in-law, Joanne, Countess of Bradford.

Lectures were held in the stable block at Weston Park. Committee meetings were held in the
dining room with tea served by a liveried maid. Since 2002, because of the Society's growth, it has
held its talks in the lecture theatre in the Cold War Exhibition hangar at RAF Museum Cosford, but
retains strong links with its original home.

NADFAS changed its name to The Arts Society in 2017 and celebrated its Golden Anniversary in
2018. This Mosaic of the Wrekin was produced by members of The Arts Society Wrekin to
celebrate the anniversary, and was unveiled on 10th July 2018 by its President, Paul Joseland.

Grateful acknowledgement is given to Craven Dunnill for providing the tiles and to
Wolverhampton Art Gallery for assisting in the project
