Merrivale was one of the main Quarries worked on Dartmoor, and Quarried Dartmoor Granite.

This is one of a number of disused buildings one of which I know was the cutting and polishing shops.
Merrivale stone has been throughout the UK.Perhaps one of the most notable is London Bridge which was purchased, returned to Merrivale for "redressing the stone" and then shipped to Arazona USA
