Ici s'élevait autrefois une chapelle
dédiée à sainte Barbe
édifiée dans la première moitié du XVI ème siècle
Le Prince Louis 1er de Monaco la fit reconstruire en 1680
pour les offices religieux de la garnison francaise.
Les canonniers de la place y célébraient leur fête.
Elle fut désaffectée en 1793.

Here once stood a chapel
dedicated to Saint Barbara,
built in the first half of the 16th century
Prince Louis I of Monaco had it rebuilt in 1680
for the religious services of the French garrison.
The gunners of the square celebrated their feast there.
It was abandoned in 1793.
