Athene

The experience of the artist's mother inspired this 1999 sculpture of Athene, a member of the Canadian Women's Army Corps, waiting for a train that will take her to a new adventure filled life. Her name refers to the Greek goddess of war, Athena whose helmeted head appears on the buttons and collar badges of the CWAC uniform.
