From an information panel on site:

7.58 cm Trench Mortar

German infantry used minenwerfer ("mine throwers"), or trench mortars on the front lines during the First World War.

For portability, many trench mortars could be pulled along on their wheels, or disassembled into smaller loads, but their short range meant that they had to be placed close to the front lines. Germany produced trench mortars in a wide range of sizes, and this is one of the smaller models. The 12th Canadian Machine Gun Company captured this mortar, which was sent to Canada as a war trophy.
