This memorial window-light for Thomas Cubbon can be found in the east gable of Kirk Maughold. It is the left-hand light in the large central window behind the Altar.

"Parts of the walls [of the church] are twelfth century..." including parts of the east gable however the large central window is a later replacement as can be seen by the contrast in the quality of stonework with that surrounding the two small windows to the left and right.

This light features large white flowers[Lillys?]against a pale blue background.

The dedication at the foot of the light is as follows:
"THOMAS CUBBON
VICAR 1796 TO 1814"

The date of appointment for Thomas appears to have been transposed as both the 'Vicars Of Kirk Maughold' board at the back of the church (visit link) and "The Records of Convocatioln: Sodor and Man 1229-1877" by Gerald Lewis Bray (visit link) give the date "1769".

Thomas Cubbon was the father of Sir Mark Cubbon who was born in 1775 in Maughold and whose tomb is in the churchyard. (visit link)
