Visitor to Redruth via train are welcomed by an old disused wooden hut. The more curious would wonder why has the hut been left in such disrepair and what was it used for....
I can only offer up my thoughts and ideas as I could not find anything about the hut, so offer.
Given the proximity to the the train station and the similarity with the brick construction (for the base).
My first thought was for the Royal Mail (which has a building adjacent).
Then I thought, with the train station opposite, the number of passengers arriving (at that time) would need a taxi, a hackney carriage.
My best guess is that this was a taxi rank office where the taxi/hackney drivers would wait for the next train and fares.
