This Subway store is also the location of the first Subway Restaurant location in Canada. It was 1986 when brothers Tom, Peter and Paul Vokey opened the first Subway restaurant in Canada at this location on Water St in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Despite it's commercial significant, Canada's first Subway store is honored by a small, simple plaque affixed to the wall inside the restaurant. Without the plaque, it would be impossible to distinguish this location as being anything special relative to the other many locations in Canada.
The store is opened 24 hours a day. I ate there twice while visiting St. John's, once for breakfast and another time for dinner. The services, cleanliness and food was all fine.
