Miami was founded in 1907. Early transportation to the outside world was by freight wagon and then railroad. A road to Phoenix was finally developed ten years after the town's founding. This service station was built in 1920 when cars were joining busses in travelling to Phoenix and Globe. The original structure included sections of glass block as decor. The remains of two posts on the street side probably supported an early roof over the gas pumps. They still contain a couple of glass blocks. The current roof appears to be a later addition.
