A cut benchmark & 1GL bolt on the south west corner of Holy Trinity church bell tower, Blythburgh. Unusually it is marked V.R. above the cut mark, presumably in reference to the Queen, Victoria.

"First Primary Levelling, England & Wales (1840-60)
This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales (Geodetic line, levelled between June 1848 and December 1851), and was levelled with a height of 34.0030 feet [10.3641 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included as a side level on the London to Doncaster levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 390(a). Blythburgh Church. Bolt in South angle of tower ; 3.62 ft above surface (p261)."
