Météore qui a illuminé le ciel comme un soleil avant de se briser au sol dans un bruit de tonnerre; une idée de pierre au cœur de la ville. Forme banale, modelée de mes mains puis offerte au métal en fusion. [...] Daniel Pontoreau a installé, Place du Marché Gayot, une œuvre intitulée Pierre trouée (à Jean Clareboudt) en mémoire du sculpteur disparu il y a quelques années. Au fur et à mesure des mois, cette pierre de métal a su d'autant plus s'intégrer au cœur de la place qu'elle prit de la patine, ce dépôt et cette couleur caractéristiques qu'acquiert tout bel objet avec le temps. Mais la finalité d'une telle sculpture n'est jamais de se fondre dans le paysage, surtout si ce paysage est urbain. Daniel Pontoreau tient en effet toujours à marquer ses objets de quelques traces de sa main comme pour nous rappeler qu'ils sont le fruit d'une activité, d'une pensée qui s'inscrit tout autant dans des matériaux que dans l'espace et dans l'histoire d'une ville. Au premier regard l'œuvre se présente comme une pierre véritable telle une météorite tombée du ciel. Pourtant, un deuxième effort perceptif voire tactile du spectateur le conduira à se rendre compte que cette pierre est en en métal, Daniel Pontoreau travaillant en effet sur le décalage entre signe et objet, entre ce qui est nommé et ce qui est véritablement visible."
