It was in Ruffigny, in Deux-Sèvres, where the first person lived to market the cheese cake.
It is indeed a real character who in his way marked the culinary history of Poitou which we will tell the story. Amélie Thibaudault, known as "La Mère Bobèche" is the first person to market the cheese cake, this dessert from home, originally made from goat cheese. Born in Fenioux in 1876, she eventually lives in Ruffigny.
The beginnings of a business
Like many women in the countryside, at the birth of each of her children, mother Bobèche also suckles a baby born in the city, in this case in Niort. While she feeds the toddler, she offers young moms the chance to sample some cheese cake she has prepared. One of them advises him to sell his cakes. Mother Bobeche gets caught up in the game. She first sells her production to the families of her infants and their friends. With success, she began to sell her cakes on the market of the Crèche and then Niort.
The wheelbarrow of mother Bobeche
It's actually a real expedition. She uses a wheelbarrow to take her cakes from Ruffigny to La Crèche station. She then takes the train to Niort. It is still in wheelbarrow that it then routes its production from the station to the halls. The business is growing. The wheelbarrow and other means of transport are replaced by an automobile in the thirties. The mother Bobèche ends up opening a shop in the Bourg de La Crèche. It marks the beginning of the commercialization of the quantity of cake.
Artist name
Bobeche is a famous clown under the Empire and the Restoration. The husband, Amélie Thibaudault, musician and host of balls, adopts this nickname. His wife suddenly becomes Mother Bobeche. An emblematic figure of the Deux-Sèvres at the time, who launched an economic adventure that continues today

C'est à Ruffigny, dans les Deux-Sèvres, que vivait la première personne à commercialiser le tourteau fromager.
C'est en effet un véritable personnage qui à sa manière a marqué l'histoire culinaire du Poitou dont nous allons vous raconter l'histoire. Amélie Thibaudault, dite "La mère Bobèche" est ainsi la première personne à commercialiser le tourteau fromager, ce dessert bien de chez nous, à l'origine fait à base de fromage blanc de chèvre. Née à Fenioux en 1876, elle habite finalement à Ruffigny.
Les débuts d'un commerce
Comme beaucoup de femmes de la campagne, à la naissance de chacun de ses enfants, la mère Bobèche allaite également un bébé né en ville, en l'occurrence à Niort. Pendant qu'elle nourrit le bambin, elle propose aux jeunes mamans de déguster du tourteau fromager qu'elle a préparé. L'une d'entre-elles lui conseille de vendre ses tourteaux. La mère Bobèche se prend au jeu. Elle vend tout d'abord sa production aux familles de ses nourrissons, et à leurs amis. Le succès aidant, elle commence à vendre ses tourteaux sur le marché de la Crèche, puis de Niort.
La brouette de la mère Bobèche
C'est en fait une vraie expédition. Elle utilise ainsi une brouette pour emmener ses tourteaux, de Ruffigny à la gare de La Crèche. Elle prend ensuite le train jusqu'à Niort. C'est encore en brouette qu'elle achemine ensuite sa production de la gare jusqu'aux halles. L'affaire se développe. La brouette et autres moyens de transports sont remplacés par une automobile dans les années trente. La mère Bobèche finit par ouvrir une boutique dans le Bourg de La Crèche. Elle marque ainsi le début de la commercialisation en quantité du tourteau.
Nom d'artiste
Bobèche est un pitre célèbre sous l'Empire et la Restauration. Le mari, d'Amélie Thibaudault, musicien et animateur de bals, adopte ce surnom. Sa femme devient du coup La mère Bobèche. Un personnage emblématique des Deux-Sèvres de l'époque, qui a lancé une aventure économique qui se poursuit encore aujourd'hui
