"The Ritz-Carlton Berlin at Potsdamer Platz 3 in Berlin's Tiergarten district is one of the city's most luxurious hotels.
In April 2002, the foundation stone was laid for the Art Déco-style Grand Hotel in the area of the former Lenné triangle. About one and a half years later, the house opened on January 11, 2004 with 303 rooms, including 40 suites. Das Hotel wird seit Mai 2009 durch den Österreicher Robert Petrovic als General Manager geleitet. Das Hochhaus hat 19 Stockwerke und ist 70 Meter hoch.
Die Architekten Heinz Hilmer und Christoph Sattler sehen das Luxushotel, das ein Teil des neu geschaffenen Beisheim-Centers ist, als eine „zeitgemäße Interpretation der europäischen Stadt mit Häuserblocks, Straßen und Plätzen“. Der Baustil soll an die Bürogebäude und ersten Wolkenkratzer der Chicagoer Schule erinnern. Das angrenzende Bürohochhaus lehnt sich formal an das First Leiter Building in Chicago von William Le Baron Jenney aus dem Jahr 1879 an. "
