A life size bronze sculpture of a Canadian sailor by Peter Bustin depicts the sailor walking with his left foot in front of his right foot while looking over his left shoulder. He is wearing the uniform of an enlisted sailor in the Royal Canadian Navy complete with cap, V-neck shirt and bell-bottomed trousers. He is carrying a large wrapped bundle over his right houlder with his right hand and is holding the drawstring of a duffle bag that rest on the ground near his left foot.
The sculpture stands on a two tiered square stone base. The upper tier has a steel low rail that surrounds the sculpture.
One bronze plaque at the base of the sculpture contains the inscription and three additional bronze plaques at the base contain profile images of various ships.
