A life size bronze sculpture of a Canadian sailor by Peter Bustin depicts the sailor walking with his left foot in front of his right foot while looking over his left shoulder. He is wearing the uniform of an enlisted sailor in the Royal Canadian Navy complete with cap, V-neck shirt and bell-bottomed trousers. He is carrying a large wrapped bundle over his right houlder with his right hand and is holding the drawstring of a duffle bag that rest on the ground near his left foot.
The sculpture stands on a two tiered square stone base. The upper tier has a steel low rail that surrounds the sculpture.
A bronze plaque at the base of the sculpture is inscribed:
THE SAILOR STATUE REPRESENTS THOSE VALIANT YOUNG CANADIANS WHO SERVED
IN BOTH WAR AND PEACE IS SYMBOLIC OF THE THOUSANDS OF SAILORS WHO WERE
INSTRUMENTAL IN THE VICTORY AT SEA AND A FITTING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO THOSE
WHO CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE PEACE
THE ATLANTIC CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION
