The cemeteries in Sequoyah State Park are remnants of the ghost town of Ray, Oklahoma.; this is the largest of the four, with a few hundred graves. The cemetery was active until recently, with a few headstones showing death dates in the 2000s. It is believed that the headstone for Louvenia Charboneau (shown in the image gallery) was the first professionally carved headstone in this cemetery.
The nearby North Ray Mission is still active, holding services every Sunday.
For those interested in virtual geocaches (the immediate ancestor of waymarking), three of these cemeteries are associated with virtual caches.
