"Anne de Bretagne, née le 25 ou 26 janvier 1477 à Nantes et morte le 9 janvier 1514 (à 36 ans) à Blois, est duchesse de Bretagne et comtesse de Montfort (1488-1514) et d'Étampes (1512-1514) et, par ses mariages, reine des Romains (1490-1491), puis de France (1491-1498), puis de nouveau reine de France (1499-1514) et reine de Naples (1501-1503) et duchesse de Milan (1499-1500 et 1500-1512).
La reine est un enjeu central dans les luttes d’influence qui aboutissent après sa mort à l’union de la Bretagne à la France en 1532. La noblesse bretonne, voulant préserver ses privilèges comme ses prérogatives, s'évertue alors à prouver par l'intermédiaire de l'historiographie régionale que sa dernière duchesse a résisté à cette annexion. Anne de Bretagne reste depuis lors dans la mémoire bretonne un personnage soucieux de défendre le duché face à l'appétit de la France. Parallèlement, elle est élevée dans la mémoire nationale comme un symbole de paix et de concorde dans le royaume dont elle a été sacrée la mère.
Le destin posthume d'Anne de Bretagne est composé d'images déformées par son histoire façonnée par les calculs politiques et les jeux de propagande. D'où la nécessité de séparer l'historiographie objective d'Anne de Bretagne de l'imaginaire collectif breton qui fait régulièrement appel à cette référence culturelle dans des supports publicitaires, des spectacles et manifestations folkloriques, et de dépasser la vision antagoniste des historiens bretons qui poursuivent avec ce personnage une mythification de leur passé, et une historiographie nationale voulant forger le mythe d'une nation française une et indivisible."
"Anne of Brittany, born on 25 or 26 January 1477 in Nantes and died on 9 January 1514 (at 36 years of age) in Blois, is Duchess of Brittany and Countess of Montfort (1488-1514) and of Étampes (1512-1514) and, by her marriages, queen of the Romans (1490-1491), then of France (1491-1498), then again queen of France (1499-1514) and queen of Naples (1501-1503) and duchess of Milan (1499-1500 and 1500-1512).
The queen is a central issue in the struggles for influence that ended after her death with the union of Brittany with France in 1532. The Breton nobility, wanting to preserve its privileges and prerogatives, then strove to prove through regional historiography that its last duchess had resisted this annexation. Anne de Bretagne has since then remained in the Breton memory as a character anxious to defend the duchy against France's appetite. At the same time, she is elevated in the national memory as a symbol of peace and concord in the kingdom whose mother she was sacred.
Anne of Brittany's posthumous destiny is composed of images distorted by her history shaped by political calculations and propaganda games. Hence the need to separate Anne of Brittany's objective historiography from the collective Breton imagination, which regularly uses this cultural reference in advertising media, shows and folklore events, and to go beyond the antagonistic vision of Breton historians who pursue with this character a mythification of their past, and a national historiography seeking to forge the myth of a French nation that is one and indivisible."

"L’œuvre d’Yves Le Corre est le fruit de deux de ses passions: La Bretagne et les cadrans solaires.
Elle sera la 8e statue d’Anne de Bretagne. La 5e en Bretagne (2 à Nantes, 1 à Concarneau, 1 buste à Rennes et, cette dernière, en presqu’île guérandaise où Anne a séjourné quelques mois en 1488-1489 avant d’être couronnée Duchesse à Rennes) Les 3 autres sont à Paris.
De la passion Bretagne, Yves a retenu cette œuvre qu’il a réalisé pour 2014 en hommage au 500e de la mort d’Anne, toujours populaire.
2014, pour Yves, c’est aussi 40 années d’administrateur d’associations culturelles bretonnes. De la passion cadrans, depuis sa retraite, il en résulte une greffe originale à la statue, compatible avec le temps d’Anne.
C’est aussi une façon de gagner du temps pour l’auteur, lui évitant une seconde œuvre différente. Très bientôt il ne fera plus partie des 7 à 77 ans !
La statue-cadran mesure 1,57 m, soit la taille d’une petite femme d’aujourd’hui, pour être comparable avec nos contemporaines. De son temps, Anne ne faisait probablement qu’environ 1,50 m mais, pour la comparaison maintenant, il n’aurait pas été possible de couper les jambes à tout le monde !
L’idée de cette œuvre a fait l’objet d’un croquis dès 2009, en pensant à 2014. Mais sous-traiter la sculpture à un professionnel, sans soutien extérieur, semblait trop coûteux.
L’auteur a donc du rechercher des moyens économiques à sa portée, pour une réalisation dans son garage. Sa 1ére sculpture d’un personnage.
En conservant le choix d’un cadran, de lecture très simple indiquant, non pas l’heure solaire du lieu d’un cadran statique traditionnel, mais directement l’heure légale de notre temps (pour éviter au lecteur, un petit calcul mental simple mais rébarbatif et négligé par beaucoup)
Pour y parvenir, le temps solaire étant variable, prenant de l’avance par périodes sur les montres ou du retard à d’autres, la statue n’est pas tout à fait statique. Le haut du buste est articulé sur un plan équatorial -parallèle à l’équateur de la terre- de façon à permettre à un préposé de faire les corrections à la place du lecteur (Changement d’horaires été-hiver, ajouter la correction de longitude de 9,4 minutes pour La Baule, ajouter ou retrancher des minutes pour suivre l’équation du temps, bien connue des astronomes)
La statue a alors été construite en béton armé sur une ossature métallique soudée complétée d’armatures. Le visage a été obtenu par moulage et le reste par coffrage souple pour une tranche de hauteur 0.25 m, décoffré et remonté le lendemain pour une nouvelle tranche et ainsi de suite.
Le béton a ensuite été enduit, lissé, poncé et peint. La table de lecture du cadran provient d’une chute de canalisation en composite résine-verre. La bande de lecture a été saisie en numérique.
Les études, la recherche de matériaux abordables et appropriés pour l’extérieur, la fabrication, compte tenu des temps de séchage, ont duré pratiquement un an.
L’inauguration aura lieu le lundi 19 mai à 18h avec interventions de l’artiste, du maire de La Baule, musiques et danses par le bagad et les cercles celtiques, Bro Gozh ma Zadoù. Au coin de l’avenue de la Duchesse Anne et du Boulevard de l’Océan à La Baule."
"Yves Le Corre's work is the result of two of his passions: Brittany and sundials.
It will be the 8th statue of Anne of Brittany. The 5th in Brittany (2 in Nantes, 1 in Concarneau, 1 bust in Rennes and, the latter, in the Guérande peninsula where Anne stayed for a few months in 1488-1489 before being crowned Duchess in Rennes) The 3 others are in Paris.
From the passion of Brittany, Yves has chosen this work which he has created for 2014 in homage to the 500th anniversary of Anne's death, still popular.
2014, for Yves, is also 40 years as a director of Breton cultural associations. From the passion for dials, since his retirement, the result is an original graft to the statue, compatible with Anne's time.
It is also a way to save the author time, avoiding him a second different work. Very soon he will no longer be part of the 7 to 77 age group!
The dial statue measures 1.57 m, the height of a little woman today, to be comparable with our contemporaries. In her day, Anne was probably only about 1.50 m tall, but for comparison now, it would not have been possible to cut everyone's legs off!
The idea of this work was sketched in 2009, with 2014 in mind. But subcontracting the sculpture to a professional, without outside support, seemed too expensive.
The author therefore had to look for economical means within his reach, for a realization in his garage. His first sculpture of a character.
By keeping the choice of a dial, very simple to read, indicating, not the solar time of the place of a traditional static dial, but directly the legal time of our time (to avoid the reader, a small mental calculation simple but boring and neglected by many)
To achieve this, the solar time being variable, taking periods ahead of watches or delaying others, the statue is not quite static. The top of the bust is articulated on an equatorial plane - parallel to the equator of the earth - so as to allow an employee to make corrections in place of the reader (Change of summer-winter schedules, add the longitude correction of 9.4 minutes for La Baule, add or subtract minutes to follow the equation of time, well known to astronomers)
The statue was then built in reinforced concrete on a welded metal frame completed with reinforcements. The face was obtained by moulding and the rest by flexible formwork for a slice 0.25 m high, stripped and reassembled the next day for a new slice and so on.
The concrete was then plastered, smoothed, sanded and painted. The reading table of the dial comes from a drop of a resin-glass composite pipe. The reading tape was digitally captured.
The studies, the search for affordable and suitable materials for the outdoors, the manufacturing, taking into account the drying times, took almost a year.
The inauguration will take place on Monday, May 19 at 6pm with interventions from the artist, the mayor of La Baule, music and dances by the bagad and Celtic circles, Bro Gozh ma Zadoù. At the corner of Avenue de la Duchesse Anne and Boulevard de l'Océan in La Baule."
