"Ici, le 27 juillet 1944, dis patriotes résistants enfermés à la prison de Brignoles furent emmenés et maltraités par les nazis qui les chargèrent d'explosif dans le but de faire sauter le Jas du Bessillon pensant qu'il abritait les maquisards. Leur tâche terminée, sur le chemin du retour, ils furent lâchement assassinés à 2 km d'ici au lieu dit Ste Catherine
Ce même jour, dans le maquis du Bessillon, les FTP du camp Battaglia, 1ere compagnie de Provence étaient attaqués par la division allemande Brandebourg. Les 22 maquisard, embusqués dans la colline, s'étaient séparés en 3 groupes. Le premier déplora un tué. Le second sortit intact de l'encerclement et le troisième presque au sommet du Bessillon eut à déplorer 7 tués sur 8"

"Here, on July 27, 1944, so-called resistant patriots locked up in Brignoles prison were taken away and mistreated by the Nazis who loaded them with explosives in order to blow up the Jas du Bessillon thinking that it was home to the Maquis. Their task finished, on the way back, they were cowardly murdered 2 km from here at the place called Ste Catherine
That same day, in the Bessillon maquis, the FTPs of Camp Battaglia, 1st Company of Provence were attacked by the German division Brandenburg. The 22 Maquis, ambushed in the hill, had split into 3 groups. The first one deplored one death. The second one came out of the encirclement intact and the third one almost at the top of the Bessillon had to deplore 7 out of 8 people killed
