Norman Edwards Park

This park is named in commemoration of the exceptional community service and involvement of

Norman Edwards

Norman Edwards and his wife Florence farmed the Kennedy Farm from 1926 to 1939, an area later known as Chatelaine Village and Queenswood Heights. Norman had a long record of public service. He was elected Councillor of the township of Cumberland from 1940 to 1946, and then elected Reeve from 1946 to 1949. He also served as Councillor of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, was a member of the Ontario Good Roads Association, was founding director for the first Cumberland Township Agricultural Navan Fair, and was a school Trustee for Cumberland. Norman played an instrumental role in the establishment of a province wide mandate that required qualified inspections of all new electrical wiring installations - a change that significantly increased public safety.

Approved by Ottawa City Council on October 10, 2012

Parc Norman-Edwards
