This room is named in commemoration of the historical significance to Ottawa brought by
Lori Nash
Lori Nash was a library advocate and former President of the Friends of the Ottawa Library Association (FOPLA). She served on the Cumberland Library Board from 1991 to 1996 when she formed the Friends of the Cumberland Library, serving as President from 2007 to 2009. Lori was instrumental in the creation of pot-pourri, a compilation of stories featuring the winners of the annual Awesome Authors Youth Writing Contest. Under Lori's leadership FOLPA received three awards: the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Volunteerism in Ontario, the Brodart Advocacy Award from Friends of Canadian Libraries, and the Baker and Taylor Community Services Award from Friends of the USA Librairies. She received personal awards from the City of Ottawa, M.P. Royal Galipeau, and the Queenswood Heights Community Association. Lori is remembered as a driving force both in the library and in the community.

Porte-Étendard des bibliothèques, Lori Nash a été la présidente de l’Association des amis de la Bibliothèque publique d’Ottawa (AABPO). Elle a siegé au conseil d’administration de la succursale de Cumberland de 1991 à 1996, année ou elle créa l’organisation des Amis de la bibliothèque de Cumberland, dont elle fut la présidente jusqu’en 2003. Mme Nash s’est jointe au conseil de l’AABPO en 2005 et l’a présidé de 2007 à 2009. Elle a joué un role déterminant dans la création de pot-pourri, un recueil de textes gagnants du Concours d’écriture pour les jeunes Super auteurs, tenu chaque année. Sous sa gouverne, l’AABPO a reçu trois récompenses: la Distinction June Callwood pour contribution bénévole exceptionnelle en Ontario, le prix Brodart Advocacy des Amis des bibliothèques canadiennes et le prix Baker and Taylor pour les services communautaires des Amis des bibliothèques américaines. Mme Nash a en outre reçu des distinctions individuelles de la Ville d’Ottawa, du député fédéral Royal Galipeau et de l’Association communautaire de Queenswood Heights. On se souvient d’elle comme d’un fer de lance pour la Bibliothèque et la collectivité.
