De bouw van deze molen kwam gereed op 28 juni 1856, de feestdag van de apostelen Petrus en Paulus. Vandaar de naam Sint Petrus. Ook was de molen vroeger bekend als de Gitzelsmolen naar de familie die ze jaren in bezit had.

The construction of this mill was completed on 28 June 1856, the feast day of the apostles Peter and Paul. Hence the name Saint Peter. The mill was also known as the Gitzels mill after the family that had owned it for years.
