Purmerend Overwhere station is a railway station on the Zaandam - Enkhuizen railway line. It is located 2 kilometers north of Purmerend, in the Overwhere district, which owes its name to its location - seen from the center of Purmerend - on the other side of the river Where. The station, designed by Dutch architect Cees Douma, was opened on 24 September 1971.
The city of Purmerend has connections with Zaandam, Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Schiphol on the one hand and with Hoorn on the other from Overwhere (and incidentally from the main station and Weidevenne). Since December 2008 it is no longer possible to travel directly to Amsterdam Central, if you want to travel in this direction, you can switch cross-platform in Zaandam.
