Memorial plaque to T. C. Noel, MC & Bar, killed in action near Westrosebeke Flanders, 1918, in St Peter & St Paul's church, Exton.
The plaque consists of a wall mounted, landscape orientated incised tablet with a decorative multi-lined border. The lettering is infilled with red paint. There is a Royal Flying Corps coloured insignia in relief at the centre top above the inscription. To either side of the insignia is a coloured heraldic shield.

"He was the son of Gerard Cecil Noel, born 1865 in London and his wife Madeline Edith Noel (nee Clifton, married on the 10th February 1897 in the Parish of St. George, Hanover Square, Middlesex), born 1869 in London. Tom Cecil was born on the 12th December 1897 in Ashwell, Rutland. In March 1901 Tom was residing at Catmose Street, Catmose House, Oakham, Rutland, this being the family home of his paternal grandparents, Gerard James Noel, who was living on his own means, born 1824 in Seaton, Kent and his wife, Mary Augusta Noel (nee Lowther, married on the 30th June 1863 in the Parish of St. George, Hanover Square, Middlesex), born 1826 in St. George’s, Middx., and their children, Henry, born 1869 and Gerald, born 1865, both his paternal uncles were born in St. George’s, Middx. In April 1911 Tom was residing in the family home at Cottesmore House, Oakham, Rutland, together with his father, mother and siblings, Charles, born 1905 and John, born 1907, both his siblings were born in Rutland. Tom was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berks., leaving in November 1912. He enlisted into the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. His service record gives the following details. He transferred as a Lieutenant from the 3rd Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers to the 1 S of A, 1/11/17. A.S.A.G., Hythe, Kent, 5/11/17. E.F., 3/1/18. E.F. as Army Observer on appointment as a Flying Officer, (London Gazette 11972, 25/4/18), 26/3/18. Transferred as Lieutenant with seniority to the newly formed Royal Air Force, 20 Squadron, 1/4/18. Qualified as Proficient in Aerial Gunnery, 20 Squadron, 6/8/18. Reported missing believed killed on the 22/8/18. Death accepted for official purposes, as having occurred on or since that date. Tom was awarded a Military Cross, and was awarded a Bar to his Military Cross, 16/9/18. Tom was killed in air combat at Westroozebeke."
